Brooklyn Bridge

Sofie Claes September 4, 2018

Hi there,

Walking the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the things that's very high on my bucket list. Did you know they worked on this bridge for 14 years?! I woke up this morning very early to walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn. It took me only 45 minutes to cross the bridge. On the way, I made some beautiful pictures. Tonight I’ll walk back to Manhattan. I’m so excited to see the see the sunset and the millions of lights waiting in Manhattan.

What is the number one on your bucket list? Let me know in the comments!

Bye!

Dollie

Homemade Hanbok in South-Korea

Sofie Claes August 28, 2018

Hi friends!

My journey in Asia is coming to an end. After this, I’m heading to America. I’m looking forward to that. But first I’m enjoying some time in South-Korea. This is the most interesting country to visit when it comes to traditional clothing. In South-Korea, the traditional wear is the Hanbok. This is a uniform that’s recognizable for its bright colors and simple lines and it has no pockets. On top they wear a short jacket. For men there is the option of wearing very loose pants that are bound at the ankles.

Koreans only still wear the hanbok on high days, but also some fighting sports still have it as uniform.

For the occasion I designed a Hanbok myself. Do you like my interpretation of it? I used the Dress Your Doll fabric set PN-0164691 Rainbow. For the skirt under my dress I used a Verachtert fabric, PN-0164374 Tule Texas with glitter/Nr. 21 - Pink.

Talk to you later!

Dollie

Hong Kong Adventures

Sofie Claes August 21, 2018

Nǐ hǎo, my friends!

Almost my last destination in Asia. Time flies when you’re having fun! Hong Kong is definitely a must-visit. Here are some facts about this amazing city:

Did you know

1.    That Hong Kong has the most skyscrapers in the world! They have more than 2000 of them. That’s more than New York, which only has half of the amount.

2.    That Hong Kong is not just a city, it consists of different islands.

3.    That there are special restaurants just for dessert? People in Hong Kong looooove dessert.

4.    Hong Kong is the city with the most Rolls Royces. Maybe I’ll spot a couple!

5.    Hong Kong has more than 7 million residents!

I think I’m going to take a hike on The Peak to enjoy the beautiful skyline everyone is talking about.

See you next week!

Dollie

Rice with sticks in China

Sofie Claes August 14, 2018

Hi there!

I arrived in China, one of the last countries I’ll visit in Asia. I’m a little sad I’ll have to leave Asia soon, but still excited about China! I’m wearing a jacket as a kimono today. Do you like it?

It was on my bucket list to eat rice with sticks in China, for a long time already. So first things first: I’ll have some delicious rice at lunch.

Did you know that in the Chinese Datang District (better known as ‘Sock City’) yearly over 8 billion socks are produced? That’s a lot! So I guess you’re maybe wearing some socks from Sock City at the moment!

I’m going to decide where to eat.

Have a great day, folks!

Dollie

Cruising the Philippines

Sofie Claes August 7, 2018

Hi guys!

I’ve never sailed a boat before, so this was a major item on my bucketlist. I heard the Philippines are the perfect place to sail, so I paid a visit to these beautiful islands. There are a lot of sailing contests held in the Philippines. I’ll just have to practice a little more before I can enter a contest, I guess. But for now I’m just enjoying the quiet and peace of the waves.

For this occasion I'm wearing my Mickey Sailing outfit. (PN-0168798 Kathy Navy) I definitely need the scarf and hat to protect me from the wind.

Did you ever go sailing before?

See you next week!

Dollie
