New outfit!

Hi there!

When I first planned visiting Turkey, I saw pictures of Saklikent Canyon, some major rocks in between which is a river flowing. I immediately knew I wanted to go for a walk in that river. And here we are!

I designed a special outfit for this excursion. I’m wearing an oversized shirt to protect me from the sun. With these, I’m wearing short shorts, so my clothes won’t get wet while walking in the water.

If you like my outfit, you can also make this one yourself.

Step 1. Choose a fabric for your shorts. The used pattern for the shorts is part of Pattern Set 1 (PN-0164692). This is the pattern for long pants, but cut off where the line on the pattern says ‘shorts’. The pink fabric comes from fabric set Rainbow (PN-0164694)

Step 2. Choose a fabric for your shirt. The used pattern for the shirt is also part of Pattern Set 1 (PN-0164692). The pink fabric with dots comes from fabric set Pastel (PN-0164686)

Step 3. Trace the pattern for shorts on the back side of the fabric.

Step 4. Trace the pattern for the shirt on the back side of the fabric.

Step 5. Cut out the pieces

Step 8. Fold the pieces with the right sides facing.

Step 9. Pin the pieces together with pins

Step 10. Sew on the marked lines (See pattern)

Step 11. Turn inside out

Step 12. Make sure one leg is turned inside out, one is not.

Step 13. Slide the inside-out piece inside the other one as shown. Make sure the seams line up.

Step 14. Sew along the lines indicated on the pattern.

Step 15. Turn inside out and you’re done!

Sewing tip #2

Hi there!

I arrived at Amsterdam, what a great city! It’s common knowledge that people in the Netherlands love to ride a bike. The city of Amsterdam is perfect to explore by bike. The canals are beautiful. I also had a little time to go shopping, as I want to get some inspiration by the Dutch fashion. Maybe I’ll buy some authentic Dutch clogs to supplement my closet. Once a fashion queen, always a fashion queen ;).

I’m also back with another sewing tip. If you don’t want your thread to fray, you can spray some hairspray at the end. This way it will be much easier to put the thread in the needle, I promise!

Sewing tip #1

Hi, you all!

Great to see you back at the blog. Today is the big day, I’m leaving for my trip around the world. My starting point is here at the Antwerp Central Station. This one is in the top 3 of most beautiful train stations in the whole wide world. Let’s see about that. I’m going to take the train to Amsterdam from here.

To have a comfortable journey, I’m wearing my dungarees. This outfit is called Tilly Jeans (PN-0164668) and is a level 4 kit, which means this is easy to sew for children starting at 10 years.

Did you already leave for your sewing journey? Then I have a tip for you. Pins, pins, pins! Always use pins to keep your fabric together. This way, sewing will be so much easier because the fabric won’t move an inch.

The train is leaving so I’ve got to go.

How to make clothing hangers for your doll closet

Hi there!

I’m packing my bags to start my trip. So difficult, deciding what I need to take with me. I’ve got so many nice clothes. Did you see my closet yet? If you purchase a DressYourDoll starterkit (My Couture Aterlier), this closet is included. Isn’t that nice? Now if you want to hang your clothes, you’ll need clothing hangers. I’ve got a great tip how to make them:

Make sure you choose a big paperclip of at least 5 cm - 2", as the hanger would be too small otherwise.

Push a wooden skewer through the closet on the place where you want your clothing rack to be. Then hang your clothes on the clothing hanger and you’re finished! You can fill your closet with the most beautiful clothes.

Nice to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dollie, a 19-year-old fashion designer. I started my own fashion label, DressYourDoll. Cool, right? Now I’m ready to take over the world with my designs.
