Ancient history in Cyprus

Sofie Claes July 2, 2019

Hi guys,

After Greece I didn’t have to fly very far to get to my next destination: Cyprus! Cyprus is an interesting country, as it is half Greek, half Turkish. I went to the Greek part, and visited some old ruins. Great to see how history is preserved over here! And of course I also had some time to lay on the beach and go for a stroll.

I’m looking forward to going back to Belgium as the Toy Museum in Mechelen has an exhibition on Barbie this year! As you know Barbie turned 60 this year, so we’re all celebrating! You can see the video of the surprise party we threw her here.

Are you going to celebrate Barbie’s birthday?

 Love,

 Dollie

A dive into history in the Czech Republic

Sofie Claes May 7, 2019

Hi guys,

I arrived at the Czech Republic today. This is a cute country with a lot of history. On the picture I’m standing on the Charles Bridge in Prague. This bridge is a famous one that’s build over the Moldawa in Prague. The bridge connects the Old Town with the neighbourhood Malá Strana. King Charles IV put the first stone of the bridge on July 9th, 1357. At first, the bridge was called ‘Stone Bridge’, but in 1870 they changed it to Charles Bridge.

The bridge is 516 meters long and almost 10 meters wide. It’s decorated with 30 statues. Most of them in the style of baroque, placed there between 1683 and 1714. Quite old, huh? Did you know the historical city center of Prague is on the list of UNESCO world heritage? So much history contained by one city. It’s amazing!

I’m going to stroll around in this cozy city.

Bye!

Dollie
