Company visit at Tunisia

Sofie Claes July 23, 2019

Hi there,

It’s not all play and no work here on my worldtrip! While I’m in Africa for the moment, I had to visit CPT, the production compound that makes all the DressYourDoll products. This company is located in Tunisia, in the city Mateur. I went to take a look where they’re standing with my new test designs. Maybe there’ll be a new collection soon… Who knows?

On this picture you can see the fabric sets rolling out of the machines. Did you try my fabrics yet? For the moment we have 22 sets with each 8 different fabrics in it. So many beautiful fabrics to choose from!

I got inspired by my visit to sew some more summer clothes, as it will be hot around here.

 See you soon!

 Love,

 Dollie

King of the desert

Sofie Claes July 16, 2019

Hi guys,

I’m still in the desert of Morocco. One thing I really had to do when I was here, was riding a camel. So I went on a camel ride through the palmgardens of Marrakesh and the countryside, where I saw traditional villages and a lot of green palm trees.

Riding a camel was a big adventure as it was wiggly to get on and off the animal! A camel bows his front knees so you can hop on or off, which makes you lose your balance for a while. But we got back safe.

I’m wearing my long pants to protect my skin and a scarf to protect my head from the sun.

Have you ever rode a camel before?

 Bye!

 Dollie

Desert dreams

Sofie Claes July 9, 2019

Hello there, strangers!

This week I’m visiting a city that’s a huge inspiration for designing the most colorful clothes, Marrakesh. With its small streets full of shops and the big Medina, it is great to walk around and get inspired.

What I also wanted to do when I’m here, is go to the desert. That’s why I took a trip to the well-known Sahara desert. I got spoiled with the most fantastic landscapes! I even slept in a tent in the Sahara.

What is your favorite thing to do, a citytrip or a trip to nature? I can’t choose!

 Love,

 Dollie

Ancient history in Cyprus

Sofie Claes July 2, 2019

Hi guys,

After Greece I didn’t have to fly very far to get to my next destination: Cyprus! Cyprus is an interesting country, as it is half Greek, half Turkish. I went to the Greek part, and visited some old ruins. Great to see how history is preserved over here! And of course I also had some time to lay on the beach and go for a stroll.

I’m looking forward to going back to Belgium as the Toy Museum in Mechelen has an exhibition on Barbie this year! As you know Barbie turned 60 this year, so we’re all celebrating! You can see the video of the surprise party we threw her here.

Are you going to celebrate Barbie’s birthday?

 Love,

 Dollie

Santorini Sunsets

Sofie Claes June 25, 2019

Hi there,

I’m visiting the Greek Island Santorni this week. It’s a romantic place where people are still full of tradition.

The traditional clothing of Santorini was mostly made of wool and linen. All woman used to wear a scarf on their head. You can compare it with a bandana. Funny fact: if a married woman welcomed guests in her house, she had to make sure she washed her hair with a mixture of oil and vinegar. This would make her hair shine.

Men would wear simple clothes, with always a cotton underwear shirt to keep them warm in winter and cool in summer.

Tradition and culture are very important to the people of Greece. When you go on holiday there, you might bump into locals wearing traditional costumes.

I choose a romantic dress to match the romantic scenery here. Now I’m going to look for a great spot to watch the sunset.

 See you guys!

 Love,

 Dollie
